The Bluebells Live at the Glasshouses

May 25, 2011

In the early 1980s the Bluebells eploded onto the UK music scene with tracks like I’m falling, Cath and Young at Heart.  By the mid 80s the band sadly split only to reform following an unexpected revival in 1993.  Since then the lads have once again brought joy with their jangly guitar styled pop courtesyof the Southside Festival will be playing at the Glasshouses in Queens Park, Glasgow on the 29th May 2011.

Doors open 8pm

Tickets can be bought from Ticket Scotland, Southside Records and at the door on the night

Official Programme

May 24, 2011

Welcome once again to another year of the Southside Festival.  Download your official programme now or pick one up from various locations throughout the southside.

As this is the fourth year of the festival we have bent over backwards to respond to the feedback from previous years and included more fun activities for younger members of the community.  These include more rides in our exciting Family Fun Zone; an expanded Children’s Entertainment Marquee stuffed with more activities than ever before; a Children’s Dance Marquee that brings the world of dance to your door and provides an opportunity to get on in there.

Dance not your thing? Then head on down to the Arts and Science Marquee and get involved in the many activities there.  Want to burn some energy? Then try out the fitness marquee and Sports Arena.

In our Display Zone we also have a number of interesting activities which include, a first for both the Southside Festival and the GHA – The Big Red Truck.  The Fire Brigade also put in an appearance with some exciting fire displays and an opportunity to experience what its like inside a fire appliance.

We have an amazing array of music for your entertainment including music from around the world in the World Cafe and home grown music on the Main Stage  and Glasshouses.

All this to much?  Then head over to the Earth Zone for some relaxing therapies, Tai Chi or yoga.  Don’t forget to stop of at the RSPB stall on your way.

This not enough?  Then why not try some retail therapy and investigate the many commercial and community stalls available.  There are stalls representing the Baths Trust, Gorbals Recycle and many more community groups.  Stalls where you can purchase items of jewellery, clothing and much much more.

Fancy a walk? Then tag along with Bob on one of his many fascinating historical walks around Queens Park or just stroll round to the pond at the Pollokshaws Road end of Queens Park and have a try on the radio controlled boats, mull over the static display or watch a video featuring 100yrs of the RNLI

We have so much to see and do that we almost forgot to mention the procession.  Yes the procession why not join in and cheer everyone as they make their way down Pollokshaws Road from Shawlands Academy to the entrance to Queens Park Recreation Grounds via Vicky Road and Langside Road

Not from the southside?  Then why not visit this unique part to the city.  We will be  providing a free regular bus service back and forth to George Square on our fleet of vintage buses.
